Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General:

Q: Where are you located?
A: Methow Van Company is nestled among the North Cascades of Washington State, specifically in Winthrop, WA.

Q: Can I stop in for a visit?
A: We don’t have visiting hours at this time. However, if you’re in the area and would like to talk about vans, please don’t hesitate to reach out via our contact us page!

Q: I see both camper van conversions and related product guides on your website, what’s up with that?
A: Like many people, we need a little variety in our lives to stay happy! So we decided to combine our passion for hands-on creations with our interest in creating meaningful content and diving deep into product reviews. Out of this, Methow Van Company was born.

Q: Do you get kickbacks from brands for recommending their products?
A: Nope! We buy all our own products and rarely—if ever—have any contact with the brands on our lists. Maintaining editorial independence is a top priority for our reviews. Best of all, we love pointing out flaws, highlighting negative experiences, and sharing our opinions.

Q: Then why do you link to businesses like Amazon?
A: This is called affiliate marketing. We may receive a small commission (at absolutely zero cost to you) for referring customers to our partners. More information below.

Van Conversion:

Q: What’s the current wait time for a camper van conversion?
A: At this time, we’re not taking new orders or reservations. Please check back in the future.

Q: Do you supply the van?
A: Typically, no. However, we’re happy to help you hunt down your next adventure van! Reach out for more information on this service.

Q: How long does the conversion take?
A: Since each van is specific to your wants and needs, it varies. With that being said, our most basic builds typically take one to two months to complete, with more elaborate projects requiring up to four months.

Q: How much do your camper van conversions cost?
A: Each individual van is custom-made for you, so prices can vary quite a bit depending on the materials used and the options you choose. Having said that, basic conversions—which include insulation, electrical/solar, and a sleeping platform—typically start around $20k (van not included).

Q: Do you only work with Ram Promaster vans?
A: We think the Promaster offers the best platform for camper van conversions, which is why it’s our preferred model and top choice (read more here). However, we occasionally work with other options like the Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit.

Product Guides:

Q: What are your Product Guides and why do you have them?
A: Here at Methow Van Company we’re insanely passionate about finding and using the best products on the market and we wanted a way to share our expert knowledge with the masses. Like ourselves, we realize that many people want to make there own DIY camper van conversion and this is one way for us to give back to the vanlife community.

Q: Surely you don’t dedicate hundreds of hours for nothing, right?
A: Absolutely correct. Although only a fraction of our business, we may receive a small commission (at zero cost to you) on some of the products we recommend.
